Politician : A “Semi Value” Poem That Has No Value

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

I was just writing about Pak Lah, our Malaysia’s numero uno, getting married this Saturday… and as expected, many ministers and whichever and whoever not will rush to congratulate him. Good on that - after all we Malaysians are indeed a loving and caring lot (or shall I say, percieved to be?)

Then we have this one really beautiful poem which was dedicated to Pak Lah, by one of his ministers (one who always have a tendency to give out Semi Valueoooo remarks and answers whenever there’s any issues pertaining his works). And the poem goes like this :

===================================

From this day forward
You shall not walk alone.
Her heart will be your shelter,
And her arms will be your home.
A mountain needs a valley to be complete;
the valley does not make
the mountain less, but more;
and the valley is more a valley because
it has a mountain towering over it

===================================

Lovely aint it?! :) I bet the semi haired valued minister, would be soooooooo proud of himself for being able to compose and come out with a wonderful piece of poem. How poetic…. awww… This "masterpiece" got published in The Star online portal (I only get to read what’s online since the hardcopy printout aint available in the UK). But wait a minute… why on earth TheStar took down the link to this dedication by Mr. Semi Valueooo just moments after it was published?

Funny aint it?

A quick check then reveals a real embarassing facts about this case. If Mr. Semi Valueooo were to be so poetic and resourceful - he’s done a terrible job. The poem was a copy-paste job from here and also here . Ahh c’mon Mr. Minister! I know your Bahasa Malaysia suck, but I didnt know you suck more at trying to copy and paste… I bet you must have forgotten your lecturer telling you "Nak tiru pun tiru lah pandai pandai… change here and there a bit lah!". This is plagiarism Mr. Semi Valueooo… or maybe it wasn’t you who wrote it after all?? Just using one of your assistant’s job whom you directed to come up with a poem and stick it at our PM and claim it as yours?

I know most of our ministers are sucky. But this is totally embarassing! I guess Mr. Valueooo not only cant do a proper job on our official building’s maintainance contracts (for the records, Malaysia’s Parliment building was suffering from a pipeline leakage, and one of our Courts have the ceiling tiles falling off), but also cant be a poet. So… Dei macha! If cannot write poem just write a normal congratulating note lah… poorah!

Really a semi valueooo with no value lah… Makes me wonder if Britney Spears can do a better job than Mr. Valueoo or not… swap them and let our Mr. Minister sing "oopss I bocor again!".

Bad Wednesday

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

Ok, so Pak Lah is gonna get married soon. Congrats to Malaysia’s numero uno. After all he do need someone since his late wife, Endon has so long passed on. I’m sure a lot of Malaysian will be congratulating him… as well as a lot more with narrow mindset saying he’s a dirty old man. Typical Malaysians…

While I see this is gonna go on the news for the next few days, I’m sitting here in the loo having a bad time. Damn Indian curry last night must have played some kinda trick in there :P

Bad Wednesday… bad tummy. :(

So I guess I’ll just wait till tomorrow before I post something.

Social : The Price of Moving Forward

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Malaysia is moving rapidly, thrusting itself in a forward motion towards becoming an advance nation. No matter if we are gonna achieve such status by 2020 is alltogether another issue. As for me, weather we do or not does not really bother me since after all, the mindset of the society is what matters most. We can all rant about being advance and all that, but having a 3rd world mentality speaks out louder than the 1st world infrastructure we have.

Anyway, one of the main issue I see that plagues 1st world countries is fast becoming a cancer in Malaysia. Illegal immigrants. I think its quite unfair to label that all aliens as a negative impactful people. Some of them do contribute to the economics of a certain city. However, things kinda gets ugly if a bucnh of rotten apples tend to commit crimes and get away with it. We’re talking about people who dont have proper ID and address. They are literally like ghosts, and ghosts can do shit and get away without leaving any stains or foul smell.

I see this happening in all the major big cities. You have loads of aliens in Paris. I’ve seen them in London. And of course in places like New York and Boston are not spared as well. And this, to such an extend, Kuala Lumpur and also other major cities in Malaysia are fast becoming (or has already became) infested with aliens. Personally, as a Malaysian, I do not like such scenario. I feel threatened. I feel insecure. There is no where in KLC streets where I can just take a stroll without having fear being mugged or even robbed.

Then comes the MVQ (that’s most valuable question). What precisely is the government doing then? Why allow such cancer to spread? You do hear the news of aliens getting rounded up and sent to detention camps to be deported. But where are the statistics? Thing is, I see very very little effort in condoning this issue. And as we discuss more on this, innocent people are getting robbed, mugged, heck - even raped and killed. I bet all of us do read of such news from every now or so often.

Photo : Illegal immigrants roam everywhere, dodging police and enforcement officers in big cities I’ve visited, such as Rome, Paris, London and also NYC.

I’ve always questioned the cultural system and practices of Malaysian society in general. We are a bunch of people who arent really what we percieved and published and advertised. When shit happens, we tend to be selfish. Why? Simply becuz its not any of our business. So we couldnt care less. I’ve seen a lot of such antics in our society - so to some extend, I’m sure I’m right on this. How do we go about to rectify this? I dont know to be honest. Hey, I’m also a Malaysian and as usual I also wanna jaga my own periuk nasi!

It really saddens me to be honest. Seeing how our place being overrun by aggresive and violent aliens really makes me sick. I’m following the news from abroad and I have yet to read on any really solid move by the big G to make any ammendments, or changes to rectify this problem. The rakyat are living in fear, I’m certain of that. And as we live such a life, I’ll just read the news and wait till one day I read something constructive - I can only hope.

Counting Days

Friday, June 1st, 2007

I was listening to Snow Patrol’s Counting Cars, and was really amazed by the simplicity of it. Sometimes, its those small things in life, those small little simple things, that can really make a difference. Most of us just dont see them as they pass by our daily routine life. And Chasing Cars, is an example of such simplicity in its utmost beauty. Its not really just about the simple lyrics alone. The melody, the tone, and even the music itself is very very simple.

At least it is to my rather noobish musical ears. :P

Anyway, I was rather inspired by this song, and it sorta reflects on my current state. I’m counting my days here in UK. I’ve planned to fly back to Malaysia by end of this month… 28th June 2007 to be exact. My bosses are discussing on avenues of extending my contract to work here in Lotus UK. I’ll leave those management stuff to them to work it out. Of course I’d hope it would be a long extension instead of a short one :P and instead of something which I call - the uncertainty of placement (worst case scenario).

So, from now till then, I have 26 more days to go :)

And I’m counting each and everyone of these days.
